IARS in Canada on Restorative Justice after the riots in Vancouver and London

IARS' Director Dr. Theo Gavrielides was in Vancouver, Canada from May 5th - 12th 2012, to promote IARS work on the application of restorative justice in response to the riots in Vancouver and London. The activities are based on a joint IARS - Simon Fraser University research project on restorative justice and street group violence.

New IARS Research on Restorative Justice & Riots: Presenting our findings in Canada

The role of Restorative Justice following riots will be the focus of the next Bruce and Lis Welch Community Dialogue. Honored guest Dr. Theo Gavrielides will provide insights into this new field of practice, including how Restorative Justice was proposed and implemented after Britain’s August 2011 riots, where 15,000 rioters caused an estimated £500 million in damages.
