Ms. Borbala Fellegi: Trustee and Vice Chair

Borbala Fellegi is an academic and a PhD researcher at the Eötvös Loránd (ELTE) University (Hungary), working on the implementation of restorative justice in Hungary. She obtained a Master degree in social policy at ELTE University and in criminology at the University of Cambridge.

In 2004 – 2005 as a junior researcher of the European Forum for Restorative Justice she was working on an AGIS project focusing on the possibilities for implementing restorative justice in Central and Eastern Europe.

Amongst other activities she is currently chairing the Research Committee of the European Forum and act as the Hungarian representative in the COST Action A21 on ‘Restorative justice developments in Europe’.

Recently she has been an external consultant for the Ministry of Justice in Hungary in the field of restorative justice. Currently she works as a researcher, trainer and mediation consultant at the Hungarian Institute for Educational Research and Development responsible for implementing mediation and restorative justice procedures into the education system.

Meanwhile she is giving lectures in restorative justice at different Hungarian universities (Law and Social Science Faculties) and professional training centres, such as the Academy of Police and the Academy for Judges

Besides restorative justice her other research activities have been related to the fields of alternatives to punishment, crime prevention, youth justice system, judicial decision making, the potential of peace-building in large scale violence and international conflicts, the sociology of the education system and minority rights.
