Why did the riots in England take place? A brief recap

The riots that started in Tottenham, London on 6thAugust and spread throughout London and England for the subsequent 3 days,could not have been predicted. Initially people thought that the shooting of police suspect Mark Duggan had sparked community tensions that eventually boiled over.

IARS response to legal aid Green Paper: fund public legal education

IARS has responded to the Ministry of Justice's proposed cuts to legal aid in England in Wales the details of which are contained in the Green Paper, Proposals for the Reform of Legal Aid in England and Wales

Final decision made about London Councils funded projects

IARS has now received formal notification from London Councils of what services will cease to be funded from 30th June 2010. Money from these projects will be repatriated to London boroughs as part of the government's focus on localism. The services that London Councils currently funds were placed into 4 categories, which are explained below.

Public Legal Education: Theatre in Education Event, 4th November 2010

IARS' young people will be taking part in an event hosted by the Public Legal Education Network (PLEnet) 4th November 2010 and which features a theatre in education performance.  The event will take place at law firm Addleshaw Goddard with guest speaker, Jonathan Djanogly, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice.
