IARS' young people write to Lord Wei about Big Society

Recently the IARS Youth Advisory Group (YAG), with the support of the Princes Trust, sent a letter to David Cameron about how young people can be engaged to build the Big Society. The private office of the Prime Minister directed the YAG to liaise directly with Lord Wei, advisor to the government on the Big Society programme.

The Anne Frank Trust UK is calling on people to plant symbolic treesto replace Anne Frank’s beloved chestnut tree that toppled and died. 

Budget cuts in the Big Society

IARS has recently received news from v, the National Youth Volunteering Charity, about specific budget savings to be made this year. The Office of Civil Society (OCS) has asked v to save 5% from their budget for the year 2010-11.

IARS Recruits Training and Accreditation Co-ordinator

Alastair Martey has recently been recruited as IARS' Training and Accreditation Coordinator. He will take forward the development and delivery of IARS' cutting edge training and skills development programmes for young people on: research methods, human rights and public legal education. He will also be responsible for supporting young people to progress through IARS' university accredited Cerfificate in Youth Policy.

Call for 13-25 year olds to get Involved in Research on Employment and Entrepreneurship

IARS has been working with The Young Foundation and its team of Young Journalists this summer. IARS have delivered the research methods training to the young journalists for the Youth of Today Project. The Youth of Today project is a research investigation into what young people aged 13-25 think, feel and experience about future employment and entrepreneurship.
