Active Young Citizens


This module aims to promote a sense of belonging by exploring the concept of citizenship from the youth perspective through a set of reflective, team building exercises. The training programme also aims to give participants an understanding of the principles underpinning the UK constitution.

Who is this for?

 Young people aged 14-25. An interest or background in law is not necessary.

Duration

Full day. This module is well suited to be delivered in conjunction with the modules Improving Legal Capability: Police Powers and Young People and Human Rights and Young People.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of the course participants will:

  • Have a better understanding of what the citizen is
  • Feel more able to be an active citizen
  • Feel more inspired to volunteer in their communities
  • Develop team working skills by working with other participants to solve problems
  • Have a basic understanding of the operation of and the principles underpinning the UK constitution
  • Develop oral advocacy skills through presenting ideas to other participants
  • Feel more confident as citizens through having a greater understanding of rights
  • Develop team working skills by working with other participants to solve problems
