David Cameron Directs IARS to Discuss Big Society with Lord Wei

Recently the IARS Youth Advisory Group with the support of the Prince's Trust wrote a letter to David Cameron offering its support for the government’s Big Society vision. The letter also detailed the important role that the youth-led sector could play in the delivery of the National Citizens Service and the establishment of the Big Society.

IARS and the Youth Advisory Group has received a response to the letter and will be requesting a meeting with Lord Nat Wei, advisor to the government on the Big Society programme. The proposed meeting will follow up on the suggestions that the youth-led sector offers a valuable framework for including young people in local service delivery, as well as instilling young people with a sense of belonging and responsibility within their own communities; principles central to the government’s notion of the Big Society.

IARS in partnership with the Prince’s Trust will be seeking to establish a relationship with the current government to help advise and deliver on the vision of the Big Society.
