As the youth-led 99% Campaign spreads its digital influence across the world, we are very proud to announce the launch of our brand new website. This will offer young people an online platform to share their stories and experiences about issues affecting their daily lives, with the intention of galvanizing social action, and influencing key public figures in the media and governments.

In the face of joblessness, low political participation and wider social exclusion among youth, the 99% Campaign is utilizing digital participation tools to connect with young people at a level which is most accessible to them.

Daniel Robinson, Development Researcher, Nominet Trust commented: At Nominet Trust we know that digital technology offers young people the opportunity to get their voice heard and participate in their communities in ways that were simply not possible previously. With the experience IARS has in youth-led engagement and campaigning, combined with its innovative and thoughtful use of digital technology, the 99% Campaign project has the potential to make a lasting and positive impact on the lives and futures of young people.”

The Campaign is hosted by IARS, a UK-based leading, international think-tank with a charitable mission to give everyone a chance to forge a safer, fairer and more inclusive society. Following the support of Nominet Trust and the EU’s Youth in Action programme, this youth-led digital participation project aims to dispel negative stereotypes around youth, and to encourage young people to lead debates about the social and economic challenges they face in their daily lives.

Dr. Theo Gavrielides, IARS Founder and Director said: “We are launching this website at a critical point in time when youth voices must be heard in the European elections and the changing youth policies internationally. Who said that our young people can’t or shouldn’t set the international agenda on what matters to them”?

With the launch of the new website, IARS is pleased to announce its upcoming Research and Leadership Awards, taking place in August this year. Following an extremely successful Awards Ceremony in 2013, IARS will once more celebrate young people who are making positive contributions to their communities, and who are often forgotten by conventional media narratives. On the freshly launched website, nominations for 7 categories are now open to the public; calling on individuals and organizations to put forward young individuals with inspiring and leadership credentials. The Awards Ceremony will be held on the 20th August 2014 at the Canada Water Culture Space, 21 Surrey Quays Road, London, SE16 7AR. Winners and runner ups will be decided by the 99% Campaign youth-led board and the Youth Advisory Board. Anyone interested in sponsoring or supporting these awards should contact

Both, the launch of the 99% Campaign website and the Awards Ceremony, mark the ongoing work of IARS youth empowerment work. The 99% Campaign project is underpinned by the highly valued work of young volunteers, who support the initiative to offer hundreds of young people a chance to present their own experiences and concerns to key public figures via multimedia platform.
