IARS meets Europe to devise a strategy on restorative justice

Early in November, IARS' Dr. Theo Gavrielides and Ben Lyon met with European academics and policy makers to present the interim findings of the EU funded 3ERJ programme.

The project will carry out a comparative study of 11 European countries from the North, Western, Central, Eastern and South Europe to develop a coherent strategy for restorative justice across Europe. The project will first research existing best practice and expertise in the participating countries and then draw upon this knowledge to produce a coherent strategy which can be tested within existing justice systems, with a view to informing future EU policy.

Dr. Gavrielides and Lyon presented findings on the past and current situation of restorative justice in the UK. The presentation can be downloaded here
