Policy

Youth-led Policy

As a youth-led, social policy think-tank IARS carries out evidence-based policy by:

- sitting or offering seats to young people on different policy and decision making bodies

- responding to government consultations

- producing policy e-bulletins and other awareness raising material

- producing our bi-annual peer reviewed journal Youth Voice

- hosting the youth-led sector policy forum.

IARS' policy priorities 2010-2012:

To ensure that we remain focused and able to measure our success and changes we are making to society, through consultation with our members and users we have identified the following policy area priorities:

- Social Cohesion (covering serious youth violence, hate incidents and ethnic minority groups)

- Public Legal Education

- The Criminal Justice System (covering restorative justice, sentencing and policing)

- Democracy & Governance (covering Equality Act 2010, public services and local decisionmaking)

- The youth-led sector

- The 2012 Olympics (covering disability equality and youth engagement)
