IARS' young people will be taking part in an event hosted by the Public Legal Education Network (PLEnet) 4th November 2010 and which features a theatre in education performance. The event will take place at law firm Addleshaw Goddard with guest speaker, Jonathan Djanogly, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice. If you would like more information or to find out if there are any places left contact Lisa Wintersteiger at PLEnet, Lisa.Wintersteiger@advicenow.org.uk.
This Public Legal Education event features Flat Broke, a dynamic and interactive learning experience, designed to highlight the impact of law on everyday life and equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to deal with housing and accommodation issues.
The programme is jointly developed by Theatre ADAD and the Public Legal Education Network (Plenet) and responds to the needs and issues that young people have identified.
This approach to the development of a public legal education draws on youth-led research commissioned by Plenet and conducted by the youth-led think tank; Independent Academic Research Studies. Young people themselves explored legal capability amongst their peers and found major gaps in the knowledge and skills needed to manage everyday issues.
