Youth-led Policy
As a youth-led, social policy think-tank IARS carries out evidence-based policy by:
- Carrying out youth-led research & policy projects on specific issues
- sitting or offering seats to young people on different policy and decision making bodies
- responding to government consultations
- producing policy e-bulletins and other awareness raising material
- producing our bi-annual peer reviewed journal Youth Voice
- hosting the Youth Policy Response Group.
IARS' policy priorities 2010-2012:
To ensure that we remain focused and able to measure our success and changes we are making to society, through consultation with our members and users we have identified the following policy area priorities:
- Social Cohesion (covering serious youth violence, hate incidents, human rights and ethnic minority groups)
- Public Legal Education (covering human rights, equality and the law)
- The Criminal Justice System (covering restorative justice, sentencing and policing
- Democracy & Governance (covering Equality Act 2010, public services and local decisionmaking)
- The youth-led sector
- The 2012 Olympic and Para-Olympic games (covering disability equality and youth engagement)
