Biography

Prior to joining Luther Pendragon in 2008 John spent over 20 years of his working life in the Third Sector, where he developed and implemented inspiring high profile public campaigning, major fundraising, brand and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

John was previously Director of Marketing and Communications for The Scout Association where he led a new pro-active approach to integrated communication. John’s ground-breaking work has been widely recognised as moving The Scout Association's profile forward; enabling the organisation to grow by recruiting & retaining new members, gaining unprecedented positive media coverage and repositioning itself as a modern youth-focused movement

Prior to joining the Scouts, John worked for Oxfam where he held number of senior positions, including Head of Communication and Director of Corporate Marketing. John played a central role in the development of Oxfam's media, campaigning, new media and brand and fundraising strategies. John has front line UK and international experience as a media spokesperson, communications officer and crisis communications manager and is a regular national media spokesperson and commentator. John works with a diverse range of Third Sector, charity, not-for-profit, public and social enterprise organisations in the UK and internationally. John’s work aims to maximise and integrate marketing, communications, campaigning and brand strategies; enabling organisations to develop inspiring levels of public awareness, exploit new fundraising opportunities, change public policy & practice and gain more support.

Clients over last three years include: Department of Health (including a senior Whitehall secondment), Stroke Act F.A.S.T. campaign, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Arthritis Research, HeadSmart Brain Tumour awareness campaign, Cancer Campaigning Group, Diocese of London, Dying Matters Coalition, Royal College of General Practitioners, RNID, Catch 22, Skills for Health, St Georges Healthcare trust, , Young Enterprise, Young Farmers Clubs and The Scout Association
