Biography

Zeenat graduated last year from the University of York with a BA in English/Politics. She is about to embark on a part-time masters in Social Research at Goldsmiths.

Over the last year Zeenat has interned and worked at Interfaith Action as a Project Officer on projects and events focusing on youth-led creativity, leadership and environmental awareness. Outside of work she also developed her interests and concerns with marginalised communities by volunteering with a range of organisations including Muslim Youth Helpline and North London Hospice.

Most recently she conducted a baseline evaluation for The U, a new community learning initiative piloted through The Young Foundation, and has continued her relationship with the organisation interning on Year Here, an exciting new gap-year project for aspiring social entrepreneurs. Alongside this, she is also working with TimeBank to help evaluate Back To Life, a mentoring project for 18-35 year olds recovering from mental health issues.

Zeenat is working with IARS on 'The changing role of Muslim women's participation in Sporting Events: 1948 to the present day', a project uniting her personal interest in issues faced by Muslim women and her working interests in social research and oral history
