Biography

Rachel is the Senior Youth Project Officer at IARS, her work focuses primarily on the organisation’s policy and research activities. Rachel completed her masters in Social Policy and Planning at the London School of Economics and Political Science in September 2009 where she concentrated her studies on policy issues affecting children and young people and the relationship between social policy and migration and asylum policy. Alongside her studies Rachel worked as a Researcher on the ‘Levelling the Playing Field’ research project led by Garden Court Chambers and UNICEF (UK) which explored service and support provision for separated migrant children in England. Prior to her post-graduate studies Rachel worked at the Ethical Property Foundation where she provided support to a range of charities and voluntary sector organisations regarding their various property concerns. Rachel has also held a number of volunteering roles working with young people, particularly young refugees and asylum seekers, through opportunities with Student Action for Refugees, Refugee Council and the North London Asylum Drop In. Rachel also worked as a volunteer with children and teenagers affected by HIV/AIDS at Project Hope in Sao Paulo, Brazil.
