99% Campaign launches its youth-led blog
This week marks a major milestone for the 99% Campaign, a youth-led campaign working to challenge negative thinking about young people, with the launch of its new 99% Campaign blog. The blog provides space where young people can address issues entirely on their own terms.
The 99% Campaign Blog is an open platform for young people to talk about their views on policy while at the same time promoting a richer and more positive image of young people. Our team of young 99% journalists have already put a remarkable amount of energy and ideas into developing the blog.
Contributions so far have ranged from criticism of stop and search practices, and a remarkable showcase of art produced by young offenders, to a call for young people to change the way we view education, and work on the benefits of cycling. Over the next few months, there will be video logs, interviews, discussions chaired exclusively by young people, contributions made by young people inside the criminal justice system.
2012 promises to be a big year for the 99% Campaign, and we look forward to taking steps towards changing the way young people are perceived.
